Exodus: Part 1

Hi, and thank you for joining me at 144JUDAH! YAY! We are finally to the Exodus. This is one of my favorite books in the bible, and it was driving me crazy to get this far:)

Now we come to a whole new Egypt, as the leader of this Egypt did not know Joseph. And we learn that the Israelites grew huge and abundant, and the land was filled with them, and they were mighty. The sons of Jacob multiplied throughout the land and were strong. This was about 59 years or so after Joseph's death up to the birth of Moses, who was born into slavery.

What happened in-between all those years?

Can you think of a time period again after where this same thing has happened? Do you really feel free now? This freedom that we "claim" or should I see the "government claims" we have is not freedom. Everything is controlled by them to make us think that we are free, but we are far from it. After you see some of the things going on in this next part, you will see what I am talking about.

Found on Revised English Version

The gap years between Joseph’s death and Moses’ birth is estimated to be around 59 years1Moses was 80 years old at the Exodus1Since he was born in slavery, the maximum years of slavery (139 years) minus the 80 years of Moses’ life gives us 59 years as the gap years between Joseph’s death and Moses’ birth1Israel’s slavery started during this gap1The time between Joseph's death and the Exodus was around 400 years2.

Now this ruler that didn't know Joseph, comes and speaks to his people, "Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land. Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Ramses. But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel. And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour: And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in mortar, and in brick, (Does this sound familiar? The people doing all of the hard jobs and make hardly any money, while the rich keep getting richer? The Government living off of the middle-class workers that do all of the back-breaking work? And then tax us to death? Giving people that don't do anything our money?) and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour. And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives of which the name of the one was Shiprah, and the name of the other Puah: And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live. But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive. And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive? And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them. Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty. And it came to pass because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses. And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast in the river, and every daughter shall save alive." Exodus 1:9-22

"And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi. And the woman conceived and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.
