Hi, and thank you for joining me at 144Judah! "The Book of the Jubilees" which is also known by some as "Lesser Genesis" is a very interesting book as it gives us more background and how the background was given. We learned in part one that Moses received this word on Mount Sinai from an Angel/Malek (Messenger) of the LORD, in the second chapter, we learn about what God created and on which days...and we also learn that God's Chosen People: ISRAEL are to keep the Shabbats. To not do so is to die. Yesterday, we learned that Adam and Eve were cursed for taking from the tree in the middle of the Garden, then we go down the lines until we hit Noah and his family and learn that there were a lot more people born of Adam and Eve then we have heard of in Genesis. After this, Noah gets into the Ark and the waters begin to rise; and the world completely changes and we are given our calendar. 13 weeks between each change of the season. 4 Divisions. Each start at the Observance of the New Moon. 364 Day calendar! As Noah commands his son about the observances and of what he sees of his own children and how they have been fighting and their children aren't doing what they are supposed to, Noah tells them that he worries that they will be taken care of by God...and not in a good way, which leads us to the sons of Noah dividing their inheritance (the earth) by using lots. We learn of the land which they decided upon, and Noah is overjoyed because of a prophecy that he had spoken about Shem and The Almighty God blessing him. Who are Shem's people -- eventually? The Sons of Jacob...The Twelve Tribes... ISRAEL. And in the 9th Chapter, Noah has his son's swear an oath that when they divide their land to their sons, that none of them will try to take any of their brothers' land. What happens if they do? Cursed... which brings us to the tenth chapter!
The Book Of Jubilees Chapter 10
Unclean Demons Began To Lead The Sons Of Noah Astray
1 And in the third week of this jubilee the unclean demons began to lead astray the children of the sons of Noah, and to make to err and destroy them.
2 And the sons of Noah came to Noah their father, and they told him concerning the demons which were leading astray and blinding and slaying his sons' sons.
3 And he prayed before YAHWEH his Sovereign Ruler, and said:
'YAHWEH of the spirits of all flesh, who have shown mercy unto me
And have saved me and my sons from the waters of the flood,
And have not caused me to perish as You did the sons of perdition;
For Your free unmerited pardon has been great towards me,
And great has been Your mercy to my soul;
Let Your free unmerited pardon be lift up upon my sons,
And let not wicked spirits rule over them
Lest they should destroy them from the earth.
4 But do You bless me and my sons, that we may increase and Multiply and replenish the earth.
5 And You know how Your Watchers, the fathers of these spirits, acted in my day: and as for these spirits which are living, imprison them and hold them fast in the place of condemnation, and let them not bring destruction on the sons of your servant, my Sovereign Ruler; for these are malignant, and created in order to destroy. (Interesting... so we are talking about the actual spirits/demonchildren/giants tormenting Noah's kids)
6 And let them not rule over the spirits of the living; for You alone can exercise dominion over them. And let them not have power over the sons of the righteous from henceforth and forevermore.'
7 And YAHWEH our Sovereign Ruler bade us to bind all. (HERE IT IS...BIND ALL... Jesus/Yeshua,Yahushua tells us to BIND... Rebuke.
- Jesus taught us to bind the strong man, then we can plunder his house (Mark 3:27)1.
- John 4, 1 Corinthians 11, James 4, 7 Corinthians 4, 4 Luke 11, 26 Matthew 10, 8 Matthew 7, 22 are some Bible verses for binding evil spirits2.
- It is vital for us to learn to exercise authority to bind evil spirits, and also to loose the spirits of God (Matthew 18:18, I John 4:4, Hebrews 1:7, 14)3.
- For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them4.
8 And the chief of the spirits, Mastema, came and said: 'YAHWEH, Creator, let some of them remain before me, and let them listen to my voice, and do all that I shall say unto them; for if some of them are not left to me, I shall not be able to execute the power of my will on the sons of men; for these are for corruption and leading astray before my judgment, for great is the wickedness of the sons of men.'
9 And He said: Let the tenth part of them remain before him, and let nine parts descend into the place of condemnation.' (Wow! Just like the Job story, truly... I looked this one up to see where else Mastema may be mentioned. I found this on Wikipedia:
Mastema (Hebrew: מַשְׂטֵמָה Mastēmā; Ge'ez: መሰቴማ Mesetēma), or Mansemat,[1][2] is the demon who appears in the Book of Jubilees. He pleads with God to permit the spirits of the dead Nephilim remain on the planet Earth, so they can corrupt and lead men astray prior to judgement. Because there was great wickedness in men, God condemned all the demons to descend into condemnation except for a tenth who could remain.
In the Zadokite Fragments and the Dead Sea Scrolls, he is the angel of disaster, the father of all evil, and a flatterer of God. He is said to have become a fallen angel. He first appears in the literature of the Second Temple Period as a personification of the Hebrew word mastemah (מַשְׂטֵמָה), meaning "hatred", "hostility", "enmity", or "persecution".
Book of Jubilees[edit]
According to the Book of Jubilees, Mastema ("hostility") is the chief of the Nephilim, the demons engendered by the fallen angels called Watchers with human women.
The Book of Jubilees leaves ambiguous whether Mastema himself is a Naphil or not. It is implied he might be an angel instead, as he does not fear to be imprisoned along with the Nephilim,[3][4] but the book doesn't mention him among the angels created by God, and the matter is blurred further because angels and other kinds of spirits are not clearly differentiated in the work's theology, allowing for multiple interpretations of his origin.[3]
His actions and name indicate he is the Adversary, but in Jubilees he is more like the character who appears in the Book of Job with a function to fulfill under God rather than the Satan of later tradition who is the uttermost enemy of God. Beliar, mentioned twice in Jubilees, is likely to be identical with Mastema in this work.[5]
When God is ready to destroy all the demons after the flood Mastema intervenes, beseeching God to allow him to retain and control one tenth of the demons in order to exercise his authority because they are "intended to corrupt and lead astray before my judgement because the evil of the sons of men is great". (Jubilees 10:8)[6] Mastema is the tester of humans, with God's permission.
Mastema sends a plague of birds onto the land in the days of Terah. (Jubilees 11:10)[7]
Later, Mastema counsels God to test Abraham (Jubilees 17:15-16),[8] just as Satan in the Book of Job wants permission to test Job. As Abraham prepares to sacrifice his son Isaac, Mastema stands in God's presence. On his deathbed, Isaac promises that the spirits of Mastema will have no power to turn Jacob or his descendants away from Yahweh.
The account of Zipporah at the Inn where Yahweh meets Moses by the way and tries to kill him is retold in a way that attributes the attack to Mastema instead (Jubilees 48:1-3).[9] It is claimed that Mastema aided the Egyptian priests that opposed Moses. Mastema is also said to have been chained while the Israelites left Egypt, but then let go to encourage the Egyptians to chase after the Israelites and so come to their doom in the Red Sea. The deaths of the firstborn of the Egyptians are attributed to "all the powers of Mastema".[5] )
10 And one of us He commanded that we should teach Noah all their medicines; for He knew that they would not walk in uprightness, nor strive in righteousness.
11 And we did according to all His words: all the malignant evil ones we bound in the place of condemnation and a tenth part of them we left that they might be subject before Satan on the earth. (WOW...so, the angels bound all but a tenth)
12 And we explained to Noah all the medicines of their diseases, together with their seductions, how he might heal them with herbs of the earth. (Everything can be healed naturally as OUR GOD has given us everything.)
13 And Noah wrote down all things in a book as we instructed him concerning every kind of medicine. Thus the evil spirits were precluded from (hurting) the sons of Noah.
14 And he gave all that he had written to Shem, his eldest son; for he loved him exceedingly above all his sons.
15 And Noah slept with his fathers, and was buried on Mount Lubar in the land of Ararat.
16 Nine hundred and fifty years he completed in his life, nineteen jubilees and two weeks and five years. [1659 A.M.]
17 And in his life on earth he excelled the children of men save Enoch because of the righteousness, wherein he was perfect. For Enoch's office was ordained for a testimony to the generations of the world, so that he should recount all the deeds of generation unto generation, till the Day of Judgment.
18 And in the three and thirtieth jubilee, in the first year in the second week, Peleg took to himself a wife, whose name was Lomna the daughter of Sina'ar, and she bare him a son in the fourth year of this week, and he called his name Reu; for he said: 'Behold the children of men have become evil through the wicked purpose of building for themselves a city and a tower in the land of Shinar.' (Land of the Shining Ones - I found this to be interesting as this was said to be built by the Ananaki... I have found much about this as well as being a way to GO TO HEAVEN because God had brought the flood before so they were going to build to Heaven and kill God. This is all in a writing that I read a while ago... whether it is true or not it reads for an interesting story. But we just read above how the demons wanted to be here to lead astray...It doesn't seem to far off.)
19 For they departed from the land of Ararat eastward to Shinar; for in his days they built the city and the tower, saying, 'Go to, let us ascend thereby into heaven.'
20 And they began to build, and in the fourth week they made brick with fire, and the bricks served them for stone, and the clay with which they cemented them together was asphalt which comes out of the sea, and out of the fountains of water in the land of Shinar.
21 And they built it: forty and three years [1645-1688 A.M.] were they building it; its breadth was 203 bricks, and the height (of a brick) was the third of one; its height amounted to 5433 cubits and 2 palms,(2.5 miles (4 km) in modern measurement systems - NOW THAT IS HIGH!) and (the extent of one wall was) thirteen stades (and of the other thirty stades).
22 And YAHWEH our Sovereign Ruler said to us: Behold, they are one people, and (this) they begin to do, and now nothing will be withheld from them. Go to, let us go down and confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech, and they may be dispersed into cities and nations, and one purpose will no longer abide with them till the Day of Judgment.' (Ha! That's what they get!)
23 And YAHWEH descended, and we descended with him to see the city and the tower which the children of men had built.
24 And he confounded their language, and they no longer understood one another's speech, and they ceased then to build the city and the tower.
25 For this reason the whole land of Shinar is called Babel, because YAHWEH did there confound all the language of the children of men, and from thence they were dispersed into their cities, each according to his language and his nation.
26 And YAHWEH sent a mighty wind against the tower and overthrew it upon the earth, and behold it was between Asshur and Babylon in the land of Shinar, and they called its name 'Overthrow'.
27 In the fourth week in the first year [1688 A.M.] in the beginning thereof in the four and thirtieth jubilee, were they dispersed from the land of Shinar.
28 And Ham and his sons went into the land which he was to occupy, which he acquired as his portion in the land of the south.
29 And Canaan saw the land of Lebanon to the river of Egypt, that it was very good, and he went not into the land of his inheritance to the west (that is to) the sea, and he dwelt in the land of Lebanon, eastward and westward from the border of Jordan and from the border of the sea. (OH MAN, we know what's going to happen here... Remember when Noah cursed Ham's kids because of exposing his nakedness? Well, not only that, but... he also said not to go into the others' inheritance...)
30 And Ham, his father, and Cush and Mizraim his brothers said to him: 'You have settled in a land which is not yours, and which did not fall to us by lot: do not do so; for if you do, do so, you and your sons will fall in the land and (be) accursed through sedition; for by sedition you have settled, and by sedition will your children fall, and you shall be rooted out forever.
31 Dwell not in the dwelling of Shem; for to Shem and to his sons did it come by their lot.
32 Cursed are you, and cursed shall you be beyond all the sons of Noah, by the curse by which we bound ourselves by an oath in the presence of the kodesh judge, and in the presence of Noah our father.'
33 But he did not listen to them, (Incredibly dumb) and dwelt in the land of Lebanon from Hamath to the entering of Egypt, he and his sons until this day.
34 And for this reason that land is named Canaan. (SO MANY ISSUES SURROUNDING CANAAN...and now we know why.)
35 And Japheth and his sons went towards the sea and dwelt in the land of their portion, and Madai saw the land of the sea and it did not please him, and he begged a (portion) from Ham and Asshur and Arpachshad, his wife's brother, and he dwelt in the land of Media, near to his wife's brother until this day.
36 And he called his dwelling-place, and the dwelling-place of his sons, Media, after the name of their father Madai.
And there we go...now we know why Canaan is cursed, and also why this is God's promised Land... THE LAND OF MILK AND HONEY... it was meant for Shem's lot... now I know why the word lot means that... ha! Anyway, it was meant for Shem's people, who were the Semites, which you will soon find out in this text are the people of Israel. What do you think of that? Did you ever hear about this in Sunday school? Have you ever cast lots? Let me know at: theawakeningtalk@gmail.com . Don't forget to come back here tomorrow for part 11!
