Hi, everyone! As you already know, I like to relate verse to today, and this letter from James is easy to do just that as the letter is to the 12 Tribes of Israel. And of course, you know that I have talked about the twelve tribes quite a bit already and their importance. So, without further ado, I present you James:
James 1 is a letter to the twelve tribes that have been scattered abroad. Who are the twelve tribes? Well, it could be you, me, your neighbor...everyone that has been birthed since Abraham’s (with Sarah) seed line commenced. If we go back to Genesis, we learn that Abram (Abraham) and Sarai (Sarah) had a son named Isaac, and then Isaac fathered Jacob (Israel), who was the father to twelve men which constitute as the twelve tribes: Joseph, Benjamin, Reuben, Simeon, Judah, Nepthalim, (Dan-not included during this time), Issachar, Asher, Zabulon, Manasses, Levi and Gad. Each of these 12, were scattered.
Now, how could that be us?
After the flood, and the Tower of Babel, comes Shem’s (Noah’s son) line which falls to Abram (Abraham) whom God blesses and promises that his name will be great and will be a blessing. And in this all families of the earth will be blessed. We also know that throughout the New Testament that the tribes are scattered and then of course in the beginning of this letter it reiterates that. So, some of us could very well be in the lineage of Abraham.
Why is this relevant?
Because if you fast forward throughout the biblical timeline and come to Patmos where St. John the Divine receives the Revelation from our Heavenly Host, then you will know that the 144,000 that is spoken of in Chapters 7 and 14 is none other than 144,000 members from these tribes.
Who are the mysterious people?
Well, they are the first fruits... the first of the harvest in which God receives unto him during the time of the great tribulation. Meaning, they are the first to perfect themselves in the eyes of God. That doesn’t mean that only 144,000 people get into Heaven as the Jehovah Witnesses teach, it means that the 144,000 do it first. They are the first offering unto God, remember The Old Testament, and how we have an offering of a Lamb? Then in the New Testament, Yahushua (or Jesus) is the Sacrificial Lamb for all? Well, when the tribulation starts and the abomination of desolation is set up in the temple, just before that, God seals His 144,000 Servants that have washed themselves in white, meaning they have repented and turned away from sin and have gained favor with The Most High God during this time of apostacy. These 144,000 go through the tribulation period and evangelize and bring others to God. Who are the others? The Great Multitude! A number so great that can’t be numbered! HalleluYAH!
Now, why am I talking about all this when you asked about James?
Well, the letter from James is a letter to the people that are of the 12 tribes, giving everyone the chance to refine themselves through Yahushua’s (Jesus) purified fire. He gives us all the information, talks about how the “Tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.” James 3:2
It tells us that “Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.” This reminds me of a message that I have personally gotten several times: we were given two ears and only one mouth. We are to listen more and speak less.
It talks about “Loving thy neighbor as thyself”, it tells us not to speak evil of one another, to not judge our brothers and sisters. It tells us about keeping our garments clean, and that riches are corrupted. It talks about not being double minded. It tells us to confess our faults one to another, to pray for each other that we may be healed. It talks about converting sinners from their ways and how we not only help the sinners but also hide some of our own while doing so.
It tells us to "endureth" temptation, because we will go through trials, and we receive God through them by keeping our “eye” straight on Him.
So, once again it tells us to listen, to not just spout off, and to be slow to wrath because wrath is not of God’s righteousness.
It tells us that faith without works is dead.
This is a word for the churches, the (bride). To walk the walk and talk the talk. In times like this it is easy to stray away from the WORD of God. Not just doing what is comfortable, what is not controversial in today’s times, but to actually teach what the bible has said. That all sin is a transgression not just one. That murder is a sin as well as adultery. That if you judge...you, too, will have that judgement against you and with the same mercy that you gave the person that you judged.
This chapter is telling us the building blocks of how to live as it reiterates Christ’s loving Word. It tells us to live “The Way, The Truth and The Life”... This is how you receive the Kingdom of Heaven within. The message that is being given in this particular book is that of faith and trust and that no matter what if you keep your mind/heart on "Yahuah" God, you will get through any trial that you face. You won’t blame "Yahuah" God for the bad stuff that is going on in your life, you will understand that "Yahuah" God is what gets you through those trials. You do this by putting on the Full Armor of God that Paul talks about in Ephesians 6:10-19. It shows us how to be a true follower of Christ by BEING and EMBODYING the faith.
“Be Still and know that I AM...”
